A complete guide on how to defeat Team GO Rocket Leader Cliff in Pokémon GO. Cliff counters are Pokémon that are specialized in defeating her line-up with ease. Use this Cliff guide in combination with knowing Cliff’s Pokémon to ensure a victory. Remember that you can rematch Cliff if you lose the first time.
Cliff’s Pokémon Line-Up
Cliff uses Shadow Omanyte as his first Pokémon. Cliff’s second Pokémon can be Shadow Machamp, Shadow Onix or Shadow Electivire. Cliff’s third Pokemon can be Shadow Tyranitar, Shadow Swampert or Shadow Torterra.
Countering Cliff’s Pokémon
Cliff’s Omanyte uses Ground or Water fast moves, and Rock or Water charge moves. Omanyte is weak to Electric, Fighting, Ground and Grass (2x) moves. As usual, our counters reflect that. Pick those that are available to you, or close the the moveset / stats of the ones listed below.
Recommended Omanyte counters
Machamp uses Steel or Fighting fast move, and Cross Chop, Dynamic Punch, Close Combat, Rock Slide or Heavy Slam as charge move. Machamp is a well known opponent that can be easily countered by strong Psychic, Ghost, Fairy and Flying types.
Onix uses Normal and Rock fast moves, and Rock, Ground and Steel charge moves. Onix has a double weakness to Grass and Water, and normal weakness to Fighting, Ground, Ice and Steel moves.
Electivire uses Electric or a Fighting fast moves, and Electric or Ice charge moves. Ground types fare excellently against it, as most of Electivire’s moves deal significantly reduced damage.
Tyranitar uses Dark and Steel quick moves, and Fire, Rock and Dark charge moves. Tyranitar is double weak to Fighting, which is a feast for Conkeldurr, Machamp and Lucario. You can use Swampert or Heracross if powering up those Pokémon is too expensive (Stardust wise).
Swampert uses a Ground or Water fast move, and Ground, Water or Poison charge moves. Luckily, Swampert is double weak to Grass moves, which makes picking counters quite easy. Be sure to shield against Sludge Wave.
Torterra uses Dark or Grass quick moves, and Ground, Grass or Rock charge moves. Torterra is double weak to Ice, which makes the fight a bit easier, but you still want to resist its Fast moves and shield against its charge moves. Ideally, you want to use Ice or Fire counters.
