Halo Infinite Development Update Details Launch Plans

The August 2021 Halo Infinite development update has popped up online, but it’s not all good news — popular features such as campaign co-op and the Forge will not be available at launch.

Halo Infinite missed the launch of the Xbox Series X, but fine folks at 343 Industries haven’t been slowing down. A lot is going on behind the scenes as they continue to work their way towards release. Now, a new development update video has been launched that details the plans for launch day… whenever that might be.

Halo Infinite Development Update Details Launch Features

The Halo Infinite development update for August 2021 spends roughly half an hour explaining what players can look forward to at launch, although it’s not all good news — popular features such as campaign co-op and the Forge will not be available at launch.

Gaming news curator Nibel detailed some of the key points in a Twitter thread. Let’s get the big bugbear out of the way: no, a release date has not yet been announced. As I’ve previously said, there will be no Forge or Campaign co-op at launch.

Those disappointing bits aside, 343 Industries is aware of the issues that popped up during the Technical Preview and is working on them. The company has also figured out the Halo Infinite roadmap for its first year — and it was able to share some of the details.

  • The single-player campaign and the multiplayer mode will be available on Day 1.
  • Campaign co-op is planned to arrive in Season 2, roughly 3 months after launch.
  • Forge is planned to arrive in Season 3, roughly 6 months after launch.

The esports side will be dramatically changing, too, as previously announced — for the first time ever, Halo Infinite esports will be cross-platform and “cross-input,” allowing players to choose to use PC or Xbox and keyboard & mouse or a controller.

Finally, 343 Industries explained that we’re getting a bit closer to a firm launch date announcement. It looks like there’s still a good chance that we’ll get to play Halo Infinite before the end of 2021. It may be a year late, but it looks like it’s shaping up to be worth the wait. For now, you can learn more about Halo Infinite on its official website.

What do you think of the Halo Infinite development update for August 2021? Are you disappointed that campaign co-op and the Forge won’t be immediately available at launch? Let us know in the comments below!
