How Much Is A Gameboy Advance Worth Today?

Ever asked yourself how much is a Gameboy Advance worth today? I’m going to hazard a guess at yes, because you’re here reading this article right now.

It’s always interesting to know how much our old tech is work. Equally, it’ important to know how much we might have to spend to pick up an old console that we used to love back in the day or replace a broken unit from our collection.

Few handhelds are as iconic as the GBA in any of its forms. I’ll never forget playing Tony Hawk and Harry Potter on this thing, some of the best times of my childhood…

… I probably should have gone out more, but I suppose I might not have had this job then…

So, that’s enough from me; just how much is a Gameboy Advance worth anyway?

Let’s find out!

How Much Is A Gameboy Advance Worth?

A used Gameboy Advance is worth between $39 – $155 depending on condition and whether the console comes boxed or with accessories.

Can you remember the first time you picked up this portable powerhouse and held it in your palms for the first time? Swapping a vertical handheld for a horizontal one felt revolutionary, and ever since the GBA dropped, that’s become the norm for pretty much every new handheld.

Ok, so the best Game & Watch games dropped first, but the GBA pushed the design to new heights.

Used consoles are pretty easy to come by and don’t tend to cost too much. You can easily pick up a refurbished console for between $48 – $299, with prices increasing depending on whether you’re picking up a modded Gameboy or an original unit.

Sealed Gameboy Advance consoles can cost anywhere upwards of $345, especially if the boxes are in mint condition.

Used: $39 – $155

Refurbished: $48 – $299

Sealed: $345+

How Much Is A Gameboy Advance SP Worth?

A used Gameboy Advance SP is worth anywhere between $71 – $110 depending on condition and whether it comes as part of a bundle.

I’m going to get a little bit specific here; for the purposes of this segment, I’m talking about the original Gameboy Advance SP, sometimes known as the AGS-001.

Like the GBA, this is a front lit console, meaning that it’s tough to play at night unless you have one of those ridiculous worm lights on our list of Gameboy accessories.

As such, these tend to sell for less than the more desirable AGS-101 backlit consoles. Still, a refurbished unit with modded screen could set you back anywhere between $102 – $229.

Strangely, sealed copies of this original folding phenomenon are still worth upwards of $599. If you’ve got a few of these in the attic, then you could be laughing all the way to the bank.

Used: $71 – $110

Refurbished: $102 – $229

Sealed: $599+

These consoles still fetch a pretty penny in 2021. A used limited edition Pikachu SP that came with he original box and manual recently sold for a whopping $599, but you can pick up a console on its own for about $35.

Refurbished consoles are probably the best way to go, with prices coming in around $65 – $229. Some have even had their battery ports replaced with rechargeable Li-Ion batteries too.

Sealed AGS-101 units are where the real money is. Ok, some of the original ones sell for around $455, but other limited edition variants like the Charizard SP can sell for upwards of $1,200!
